Bought a lot of six R610s for the price of a sandwich. Five POST fine. The sixth spun fans at full scream and hung at 0E. The iDRAC firmware was so old it still believed Flash was a browser plugin. Reflashed via IPMI, now it just judges me silently at idle speed.
Four bulged tops, one vented bottom. Ten minutes and three euros of caps later it holds 12.04V under a 40W load. The label said remove by august 2011. It stayed. We forgive, we recap.
Everyone has one. Nobody booted one since 2016. Mine came with a BIOS password of admin, a SATA DOM still holding a Windows 7 image, and 4GB of DDR3L that just works. OpenWrt on it is a cliché for a reason: it's great.
